Betway Premiership side Chippa United have appointed Brandon Truter as their new head coach ahead of a decisive final league fixture against Kaizer Chiefs.

The appointment comes at a critical stage of the season, with the Chilli Boys still fighting to avoid slipping into the relegation playoffs. Reports indicate Truter has already joined the squad and taken charge of preparations for Saturday’s clash in Durban.

Truter replaces Vusumuzi Vilakazi, who recently parted ways with the Eastern Cape outfit after a turbulent campaign marked by constant changes in the technical team.

Chippa head into the final round of fixtures sitting just above the playoff zone on 25 points. Rivals Orbit College and Marumo Gallants remain within touching distance, meaning the club could still be dragged into the relegation playoffs depending on results elsewhere.

BRANDON TRUTER BECOMES CHIPPA UNITED’S SIXTH COACH

The appointment also continues Chippa’s long-standing trend of managerial changes. Truter becomes the sixth coach to take charge of the club this season alone, underlining the instability that has defined their campaign.

Known in South African football circles as “Brakkies,” Truter has previously coached clubs including Moroka Swallows, Sekhukhune United and Richards Bay FC. He now faces the immediate challenge of steering Chippa to safety in what could be one of the most important matches of their season.
