Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef remain uncertain about their future at the club despite guiding Amakhosi to one of their strongest league campaigns in recent years.

The duo stepped into the hot seat following the departure of Nasreddine Nabi and have overseen an impressive turnaround in fortunes at Naturena.

Chiefs have already secured a third-place finish on 54 points with one league match still to play this season. They will wrap up their campaign against Chippa United at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium next weekend.

Victory in that encounter would see Chiefs finish the season on 57 points, their best tally in a decade and equal to the total achieved during the 2019/20 campaign when they narrowly missed out on the league title.

Last season, despite winning the Nedbank Cup under Nabi, they finished a distant ninth place in the Betway Premiership.

UNCERTAINTY SURROUNDS BEN YOUSSEF AND KAZE

Despite their strong work since taking charge, indications are that Kaze and Ben Youssef are yet to receive clarity over whether they will remain at the club beyond June, when their current contracts expire.

The uncertainty surrounding their future comes at a time when their stock has risen significantly following Chiefs’ resurgence under their guidance.

The pair have also reportedly emerged as candidates for a return to Tanzanian giants Young Africans, a club where they previously enjoyed success. Kaze served as head coach at Yanga before deputising Nabi, while Ben Youssef was head analyst.

Young Africans are understood to be searching for a new head coach after recently parting ways with Pedro Gonçalves. For now, however, the focus for Kaze and Ben Youssef remains on ending Chiefs’ season on a high note before any decision is made regarding their future.

Amakhosi take on Chippa United at home in their final match of the season at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
