Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has spoken about his journey back to form in the current season.
The 2023/23 PSL campaign will official be completed on Saturday, 1 June. Rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates will lock horns in the final of the Nedbank Cup at Mbombela Stadium. Kickoff is at 3pm.
This season wasn’t one of Shalulile’s best campaigns in the SA top-flight. In the past season Shalulile has always been outstanding finishing as the DStv Premiership top goalscorer.
This time around, the talented goalpoacher struggled for form and consistency. In 39 matches in all competitions ‘Shasha’ racked up 15 goals and grabbed four assists.
At one time, the Namibian international’s goal drought stretched to seven matches in all competitions.
Then towards the end of the season, he found back his scoring boots and starting hitting the back of the net. In seven matches he scored five goals and provided one assist.
PETER SHALULILE REFLECTS ON HIS STRUGGLES THIS SEASON
The 30-year-old says many people were on his case because he was failing to replicate his performances from the previous seasons.
He attributed his teammates and coach Rulani Mokwena for not giving up on him during his struggles.

“Many people were going on, on me and media was writing. As a striker there will be times when things are not good and they don’t go well for you,” Shalulile told journalists.
“[You] Pick yourself up, with the support from my teammates and the coach, you could see in the media, they never gave up on me.
“As a player you go back to the drawing board and do things that you’ve been doing. Eventually, the break will come and I started getting back in form towards the end of the season which is not my plan, but God’s plan.”
