DStv Premiership side Orlando Pirates are mulling over offering centre-back Olisa Ndah a new deal as his current contract expires at the end of the season.

The Nigerian international signed a three-year deal with the Soweto giants at the start of the 2021/22 campaign on the back of a stellar season where he helped Nigerian outfit Akwa United to a league title.

In January 2024, Ndah will be eligible to sign a pre-contract with a club of his choice. The Buccaneers have not yet drawn up a new deal. However, an SN24 source close to the club has revealed that the team want Ndah to extend his stay.

The Super Eagles defender previously attracted overseas interest, and indications are that the Bucs are not prepared to lose out on the experience Ndah brings to the squad.

While talks have not officially opened over a new deal, news from the club is that they are looking to offer the 25-year-old another lengthy deal.

Since returning from injury, the dreadlocked player has made five appearances in all competitions. He has mastered the Buccaneers’ defence with such aplomb. The skilful defender made his first appearance for the Jose Riveiro-coached side since February against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final

Olisa Ndah has struggled with injuries in the past. However, his MTN8 final performance proves he still has much to offer the club.

He is seen as a valuable player at the Soweto-based outfit, and the club believes the player’s experience and versatility will come in handy going forward. It’s understood that Jose Riveiro is a big fan of Ndah and will have a big say in the defender’s future at Pirates.

He has played in most PSL matches in the 2021/22 campaign for Orlando Pirates, making 21 appearances across 30 league matches.

He has also represented his national Under 23 side and appeared for the Super Eagles.
