Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic are on the verge of appointing former Kaizer Chiefs mentor Nasreddine Nabi as their new head coach, according to a report by FARPost. The Tunisian coach is understood to be in Casablanca to finalise the agreement’s final steps before taking charge of the Green Eagles. FARPost reports that both parties have already reached common ground on a contract that will keep Nabi at the club until the end of next season.
His anticipated appointment follows the exit of South African coach Fadlu Davids, who parted ways with Raja this week after a challenging run of results.
Davids leaves with the club still firmly in the hunt for the Botola Pro title, but recent setbacks ultimately convinced the club to make a change. Raja currently sit fifth in the standings, four points adrift of leaders RS Berkane, with the title race remaining tightly contested.
Defeats against direct rivals Berkane and Wydad AC, followed by a 2-0 loss to KAC Marrakech, increased pressure on the former Simba SC coach, leading to his departure.
Raja confirmed on Friday that an agreement had been reached to end Davids’ tenure, opening the door for Nabi’s expected arrival.

FAMILIAR TERRITORY FOR NABI
Should the deal be finalised, Nabi will return to Moroccan football after previously coaching AS FAR Rabat, where he guided the club to runners-up finish in the league.
The 59-year-old has been without a coaching role since leaving Kaizer Chiefs. During his time in South Africa, he ended Amakhosi’s long wait for silverware by leading the club to Nedbank Cup success before departing early in the 2025/26 campaign.
Prior to his spell at Chiefs, Nabi enjoyed considerable success in Tanzania with Young Africans, collecting six trophies across two seasons and establishing himself as one of the most respected coaches on the continent.
FARPost reports that Raja views Nabi as the ideal candidate to provide stability and steer the club’s challenge for honours during the remainder of the season.
The club is expected to formally announce the appointment once the final administrative processes are complete.
