Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has named his final 26-man squad for the upcoming 2023 Afcon tournament in Ivory Coast. The announcement comes after weeks of speculation and anticipation, with Broos having to choose from a talented pool of players.

The squad will assemble for a training camp on January 4th, 2024, before heading to Stellenbosch for a week-long intensive session. They will also play a closed-door friendly against Lesotho at the Lucas Moripe Stadium as part of their preparations.

The Afcon tournament itself will take place from January 13th to February 11th, 2024, across five Ivorian cities. Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro, and Yamoussoukro are the host cities. South Africa has been drawn into Group E alongside Tunisia, Mali, and Namibia. They will be based in Korhogo and play all their group matches at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium.

South Africa is aiming to win its second Afcon title. They previously triumphed in 1996 on home soil under the legendary Clive Barker. They also reached the final in 1998 but were defeated by Egypt. Their best performance since then was a third-place finish in 2000.
