Kaizer Chiefs interim head coach Cavin Johnson has shed light on his decision to take off Keagan Dolly at half-time in Soweto Derby on Saturday at a sold-out FNB Stadium.
In a surprising turn of events, Johnson opted to substitute star midfielder Keagan Dolly after the first 45 minutes during their crucial match against Pirates.
This decision raised eyebrows among fans and pundits alike, prompting Johnson to explain his reasoning behind the move.
Despite his impressive record of four consecutive wins against Pirates, Dolly, experienced his first defeat in the Soweto Derby.
Chiefs lost the DStv Premiership game 1-0 with Evidence Makgopa scoring the goal that sealed the three points and bragging rights for Pirates.
JOHNSON EXPLAINS REASONS FOR DOLLY’S EARLY EXIT
“Keagan is a 100% fit but at the same time he’s also still coming back,” Johnson.
“He’s 100% fit but today he got injured, he came off the pitch, he got substituted because he got hurt.
“He’s got hurt on his ankle and we had to take him off at half-time. But he’s getting there and hopefully by the next window, when it’s closed, it’s now FIFA, he’ll be 140%.”
