Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter believes his team is struggling because they are competing in two competitions, the DStv Premiership and the CAF Confederation Cup.
Brandon Truter’s men have not won any of their last four matches in all competitions, losing to Kaizer Chiefs and Golden Arrows in the league and drawing with Polokwane City and Saint Eloi Lupopo in the Confed Cup.
Despite progressing to the Confederation Cup group stages with a 4-2 aggregate win over Lupopo, Truter says his players are now struggling with fatigue. And on top of the two competitions, Confed Cup and the DStv Premiership, Sekhukhune United will also be competing in the Nedbank Cup and the newly formed Carling Cup.
TRUTER JUGGLING TWO COMPETITIONS, FEELS THE PRESSURE
“It was a hectic week for us Sunday to Sunday, the amount of games we played,” said Truter. “CAF, the amount of travelling playing in a different time zone and having to fly back [from DR Congo]. “Then one day off recovery, then travelling up on Wednesday to come and play on Thursday against Golden Arrows.

And Friday recovery, you can’t do much, Sunday, then you have to play again. It’s too much on the body, even though in the first half, Polokwane was nowhere to be honest.
“We had so many chances to wrap it up in the first half because, in the second half, we ran out of legs, fatigue set in, and decision-making went out the window.

“And that’s what you get having to juggle the two playing in the continent and locally. But we will have to get it right. We will learn from this, and we will move on.” Meanwhile, Truter also set the record straight following his recent remarks about considering leaving Sekhukhune.
He had said that the club’s environment is not conducive for him to produce the desired results. “I am still here; yes, I am still here,” he added. “Look, it was a bit emotional, like I said, you understand? But we have to understand that all coaches go through that.
“All coaches go through it, it’s just that I voiced it. Some coaches don’t speak about it. We get challenged, we get dissected, we get so many opinions. So yeah, it’s just something that I voiced, so it’s nothing to worry about.”
