Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika is confident that new teammate Sibongiseni Mthethwa will succeed at the club, describing the defensive midfielder as a “strong boy.”
Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa joined Kaizer Chiefs on a three-year deal a few days before the September transfer window closed.
This comes after Amakhosi triggered the release clause on Mthethwa’s contract at Stellenbosch FC last week to secure the services of the highly-rated midfielder.
He has been tipped by many, including Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki and now Kwinika, to make an impact at the club as he has the qualities of a top player.
Addressing the media in Durban at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Kwinika said: “Coming to Mthethwa, I think he is a good player, and I think he will make it.”

Kwinika reunites with Mthethwa as the duo played together at Stellies before Kwinika rejoined Amakhosi two seasons ago alongside attacker Ashley Du Preez.
Mthethwa has already started training with his new club and is in line to debut when Chiefs tackle Sekhukhune United this evening (19:30) in Durban.
“He (Mthethwa) is very strong, very humble,” added Kwinika.

“Sometimes in life, it is where you start from wherever he started to wherever he is now. It is a good progression for him now.
“I think he will come to the team and help add value.”
Mthethwa had a great 2022/23 season at Stellenbosch, attracting the interest of many, including Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu, with Chiefs winning the race to sign him.
His club performances didn’t go unnoticed, as he earned a Bafana Bafana. He played at the recently concluded COSAFA CUP.
The 29-year-old will be looking to win the hearts of the Amakhosi faithful. He also had a stint at Black Leopards.
