Kaizer Chiefs are facing a charge of misconduct after the club’s supporters threw objects at coach Molefi Ntseki following a loss to TS Galaxy.
Fans decided to express their disappointment in a violent way after Chiefs suffered a 1-0 defeat to Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit at the weekend.
The Soweto giants have had a dismal start to the new season as they have only accumulated a single point from three DStv Premiership matches.
In Nelspruit, Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki was escorted off the pitch by security personnel and police as fans threw missiles at the ex-Bafana Bafana coach. Amakhosi fans have a history of impatience with coaches, which has been exacerbated by the club’s eight-season trophy drought.
This is the second time in recent months that Chiefs supporters have thrown objects at a head coach in frustration. Last season, Arthur Zwane, who is now Ntseki’s assistant coach, was hit by an object thrown at him by fans and suffered a cut to his face after the team lost to SuperSport United.

Chiefs under Ntseki are yet to win a league game this season as they have lost twice and drew once in the league. However, Chiefs booked a place in the semi-finals of the MTN8 after beating Cape Town City 2-1. They will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the last four over two legs.

On Tuesday evening, PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu said: “I confirm that I preferred charges of misconduct against Kaizer Chiefs Football Club.
“This is as a result of a ‘missile-throwing incident’ that transpired in a match between themselves and TS Galaxy this past Sunday.
They have been scheduled to appear before the PSL DC on Tuesday, 29 August, 2023. “Once the DC has pronounced its verdict and the matter is finalised, I will then give a further update. Until then, there will be no running commentary on the matter as per usual.”
