Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Phathutshedzo Nange’s future at the club has come under consideration, with his contract set to expire in June.

Nange joined Chiefs from Stellenbosch FC in July 2021 on a free transfer. He had just spent a season at the Winelands outfit after his switch from Bidvest Wits.

His impressive Stellies stint would see him making 24 appearances for the club before being snapped up by Chiefs.

In Naturena, he reunited with his former Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt and had a relatively fair season.

He even made it into the national team in the early days of Hugo Broos before being sidelined after coaching changes at Chiefs.

The Limpopo-born star is now in the last three months of his contract with Chiefs, and the club has decided on his future.

“The club has met him and told him his future lies elsewhere. It means he is free to find a club of his choice and move at the end of the season,” a source told SN24.

Under Arthur Zwane this season, the 31-year-old has only made three appearances.

His best season in Amakhosi colours came under Hunt in the 2021/22 season when he made 24 appearances. He weighed in with two goals for that particular term.

He has played 31 times for Chiefs during his two-year stay at the club.

The former Black Leopards linkman will not be short of suitors when his contract ends in June.

Already, he has attracted the interest of two DStv Premiership sides coached by two men who have previously mentored him.

Both SuperSport United and Stellenbosch FC are interested in signing him.

“Both coaches value him so much after what he did when he played for them. Gavin Hunt signed him from Black Leopards for Wits and signed him as soon as he joined Kaizer Chiefs.

“Gavin wants him at SuperSport United, while Steve Barker is also interested in him.

“At the end of the day, it’ll depend on who tables a better offer for him.”
