Cape Town City surged to the top of the DStv Premiership standings for the first time this season after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday evening.
Khanyisa Mayo got the priceless goal after eight minutes to put Cape Town City in full control of the encounter.That was his seventh goal of the season.
Cape Town City also set a new club record, after winning six consecutive league matches.
And the win helped Eric Tinkler’s men displace Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the standings, with 26 points after 13 matches.
Mamelodi Sundowns, however, have five games in hand, as they are now one point behind the Cape Town based team.
Having been beset with continental assignments, Mamelodi Sundowns will resume league commitments on Wednesday against SuperSport United.
Golden Arrows remained on fourth position after the defeat to Cape Town City.
