Only two PSL stars, Washington Arubi and Terrence Dzvukamanja have made it into Zimbabwe’s provisional squad ahead of the oncoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Warriors of Zimbabwe were drafted in Group C of the qualifiers along with Bafana Bafana, Rwanda, Lesotho, Benin and Nigeria.
For now, Zimbabwe has opted to host their qualifiers in Rwanda as they do not have a CAF-approved stadium.
They are scheduled to take on Rwanda and Nigeria on the 15th and 19th of November, respectively.
Both matches will be played at Huye Stadium in Rwanda, with so much hope of bouncing back on an emphatic note.
This will be the first time the Warriors feature in competitive matches since the FIFA ban was lifted early this year.
Initial plans to play friendly matches during the October international break hit a snag before they resolved to host a four-day training camp in Harare, where the team played national First Division teams.
HOPES OF BEING A SOUTHERN AFRICAN POWERHOUSE AGAIN
And under Jose Mourinho’s former assistant coach, Baltermar Brito, they are hoping to reinvent themselves to be a Southern Africa powerhouse while claiming a ticket to the next round of the World Cup qualifiers.
Brito named a 27-men squad, where only two PSL stars, Washington Arubi and Dzvukamanja, have been picked. Both players are in the books of SuperSport United.

Notably, Liverpool starlet Isaac Mabaya has so been drafted into the team along with the England-based duo of Tivonge Rushesha and Tawanda Masvanhise of Reading FC and Leicester City juniors.
Rookie forward Leon Chiwome of Wolverhampton Wanderers has also been placed in line for his national team.
