Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of Under-23 international, Luke Fleurs, on a two-year contract.
Fleurs has been on trial at Naturena for the last six weeks and finally signed the deal with an option for a further season.
The classy defender left SuperSport Unted last month, as he sought to get a new lease of life.
While Amakhosi expressed interest in his services, they insisted they wanted to run the rule over him before making a decision.
It took six weeks under the watchful eye of former head coach Molefi Ntseki who was, unfortunately, axed this week.
Chiefs were able to sign him outside the transfer window and he is eligible to play immediately as he was a free agent.
Chiefs’ sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. said they were “very excited and happy to have Luke join us”.
LUKE FLEURS VOWS HE’S READY TO PLAY HIS PART
He believes youth international has “great technical abilities” and “will fit really well into how we want to approach the game”.
Interestingly, Fleurs is signed when a Cavin Johnson is starting his tenure as interim coach following Ntseki’s exit.
“Of course, being a youth international and having experienced the Olympics, as well as having many PSL games under his belt, we believe his attributes will benefit the team,” Motaung Jr said.
The Ubuntu Academy prodigy said he was ready to play his part in restoring the glory days to the Amakhosi Faithful.
“I feel so pleased to sign because I always wanted to be part of the Glamour Boys,” he said.

“There is a great bond here; it has that family feel. I just wanted to get started on the job of winning silverware. This is the biggest Club and I want to help us win things.”
“We have been training well and I am used to the set up,” he continued. “Results haven’t been going our way lately but we will turn it around through hard work, because there is great talent here and we will get it right.”
LUKE FLEURS COMPETE TO STARTING PLACE
The Cape Town born defender will compete for a starting place with the likes of Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Njabulo Ngcobo and Zitha Kwinika.
Having already spent some time at the Naturena-based club, he will not struggle to blend in with the rest of the team.
“We are looking to get everyone on board as soon as possible and we know that Luke is fit and raring to go, so we will leave it up to the technical staff to make that call, but we are hoping to see him playing for us soon.”
Chiefs play their first game under Johnson on Saturday at the Mpumalanga Stadium in KZN. They take on in-form Golden Arrows who are under their former striker Mabhuti Khanyeza.
