Orlando Pirates will host DStv Premiership strugglers Cape Town Spurs as they look to account for another piece of silverware this season.

Although this fixture looks easy on paper, the Spaniard is careful not to set the cart before the horse, despite the fact that the Mother City side has been the league’s punching bag.

“It’s going to be difficult. It’s about 90 minutes, everyone has the same oppurtunities and same probablities to go through.

“Cape Town Spurs is a team that didn’t fare so well in the league so far, but it doesn’t mean they can’t offer a good resistance in the cup.

“It’s going to be a different motivation in the cup [Carling Cup]. Football is the last game you played and obviously, we are in a good space. I’m not going to lie, after winning one more trophy [MTN8 Cup]

“The level of opposition that we faced on Saturday, the weather conditions, everything contributed to make it an epic victory for us.

“It’s going to make our minds stronger in the future but now we have to focus on next one, which is the Carling Cup game and then the league. We need to pick points.

“Our minds are already there but we are still having memories of the last final. Right now it’s about memories,” Jose Riveiro said.

Unlike last season, the Carling Cup includes all the 16 DStv Premiership teams.

Last season, it was played by four teams AmaZulu, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

Mamelodi Sundowns were the eventual winners of the cup, after beating Orlando Pirates 4-0 in the final.

And while the Buccaneers got what appears to be a easy fixture, their Soweto rivals, Chiefs face a potential banana skin when they take on AmaZulu FC, in their quest to end the trophy drought Meanwhile, the PSL is yet to reveal the dates, and venues for the matches.
