Cape Town Spurs have announced that they have parted ways with coach Shaun Bartlett owing to a string of poor results in the DStv Premiership.
Under Shaun Bartlett, the Urban Warriors suffered seven straight defeats since the start of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
That poor run is the worst start by any club in the history of the Premier Soccer League.
And their latest 3-1 defeat at the hands of cross-town rivals Cape Town City at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday all but sealed his fate.
Bartlett is the first coach to lose his job this season, as it is still in its infancy. The club announced Bartlett’s departure via a statement on their website.

“We recognise this is not an easy decision for all parties, but it has been taken with the club’s long-term interest at heart.
“Everyone at Cape Town Spurs wishes Shaun Bartlett all the best in his future coaching career.
“CEO Alexi Efstathiou and Technical Director Sean Connor have already begun the restructuring of the coaching set-up at the club.
“A shortlist of candidates has been identified, and an announcement is expected imminently,” reads the statement.
It remains to be seen who will replace Bartlett, but the would-be candidate faces the mammoth task of lifting the team from the murky waters of relegation.
Connor is expected to hold fort in the interim while the club looks for a long term replacement.
