Kaizer Chiefs seek consistency as DStv Premiership resumes

After the two-week international break, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki will all but be hoping his men keep the winning formula they had before the brief hiatus.

Unlike the other DStv Premiership giants, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, the Naturena-based club did not have any of their players on national duty.

Although it is a cause for concern, Ntseki and his men had some time to rest and restrategise during the break.

DStv Premiership action resumes Friday evening when the revived Moroka Swallows host troubled Richards Bay at Dobsonville stadium.

Moroka Swallows are now 6th on the DStv Premiership standings. The Steve Komphela-coached side picked vital points when they beat Sekhukhune United and Cape Town Spurs in their last two matches.

And they are undoubtedly the favourites to win this one, as they face Richards Bay, who are yet to win a PSL match this season.

They earned two points after draws with AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United, respectively.

Themba Zwane against Kaizer Chiefs

And consecutive defeats at the hands of SuperSport United, Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns have left coach Kaitano Tembo’s credentials under scrutiny.

On Saturday, Golden Arrows are set to lock horns with Stellenbosch in Durban. Even after parting ways with coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi, Arrows must fight tooth and nail to maintain their rich vein of form.

After five matches, Golden Arrows sit pretty in second position in the DStv Premiership, with ten points on their tally.

They are smarting from impressive wins over Polokwane City and SuperSport United, where they scored six goals and conceded twice.

Their clash with Stellenbosch promises to be a tough encounter, as the Mother City-based team aims to return to winning after three matches of misery.

The Steve Barker-coached side lost their last three matches. They lost 2-1 to SuperSport United and 2-0 at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs.

KAIZER CHIEFS DATE ROYAL AM

Orlando Pirates rubbed more salt onto their wounds after beating them 2-1 in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals.

Kaizer Chiefs date Royal AM at the FNB stadium in another potentially thrilling encounter.

The Glamour boys appear to be slowly getting into their groove, but the Shauwn Mkhize presents a stern test to coach Ntseki and his charges.

Chiefs are fifth in the standings after winning their last two DStv Premiership matches. They beat Stellenbosch 2-0 before outwitting AmaZulu 3-0 at home.

They drew 1-1 with Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals.

On the other hand, Royal AM, who blew hot and cold in the first three matches, finally struck the right chord a fortnight ago when they beat TS Galaxy 1-0.

They went on to grind past Chippa United in a five-goal thriller that ended in their favour.

The last meeting between Royal AM and Kaizer Chiefs ended 2-1 in the latter’s favour. However, it remains to be seen how they will play out on Saturday.

On Sunday, AmaZulu dates Cape Town City as they continue searching for their second PSL win under the tutelage of Pablo Franco Martin.

Last time out, they beat TS Galaxy 1-0 courtesy of a goal by Augustine Chidi Kwem.

Meanwhile, two matches between TS Galaxy and SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town Spurs were postponed.
