Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic is excited to reunite with a former Kaizer Chiefs teammate at his new DStv Premiership club, TS Galaxy.
Nurkovic recently joined Galaxy on a free transfer following his premature departure from Royal AM in 2022.
He was without a club for 10 months, and his search for a new home saw him try his luck at Cape Town City and Moroccan giants Raja Athletic Club.
Nurkovic trained with both clubs and negotiated deals. However, the striker and the two clubs could not agree on personal terms.
In a brief statement a few days ago, Galaxy said: “We welcome Samir Nurkovic to The Rockets Family. Nurkovic has signed until May 2024 with the option to extend his contract at the end of the season.
The 31-year-old burst onto the South African football scenes in the 2019/20 campaign at Amakhosi. In his first season at the Soweto giants.
Nurkovic scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 31 games in all competitions as Chiefs lost out on the league title on the final day to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Overall, he scored 21 goals in over 70 matches for Chiefs, battling injuries in his final two seasons at Naturena.
He also formed part of the Amakhosi squad that reached the 2020/21 CAF Champions League final, losing to Al Ahly.
You Nurkovic, who is eager to return to action in the DStv Premiership, has said that he is looking forward to playing with Bernard Parker again. The two players were teammates at Chiefs.

“I’m glad to be able to get a chance to play with Bernard Parker again,” said Nurkovic in an interview on Metro FM.
“He’s [Parker] an amazing player and a good friend of mine. I hope goals will be coming in earlier.”

Nurkovic added: “I’m at TS Galaxy to revive my career, and it all depends on me as a player how much work I’ll put in.
