A visibly disappointed Gavin Hunt expressed his disappointment after SuperSport United dropped points against Golden Arrows on Tuesday night.

SuperSport, coached by Hunt, were hammered 3-0 by Arrows in a DStv Premiership encounter at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The defeat was Matsatsantsa’s first of the new season after five league games. It was also their first loss at home in the Premiership since January 2022.

Lungelo Nguse, Angelo van Rooi and Ryan Moon scored the goals for Abafana Bes’thende.

Hunt’s troops failed to convert several chances that fell on their way throughout the match.

“Well, they broke us and scored, so it’s quite disappointing,” said a dejected Hunt. “We had more than enough chances to win the game, so yeah, it’s disappointing.”

When SuperSport mentor Gavin Hunt was asked about whether travelling to Limpopo from Gautent for their home matches was taking a toll on the players, he replied: “What do you think?” “I am not going to go there.”

The Tshwane side is third on the log standings with 10 points from their three wins, a draw and a defeat.

On the other hand, Arrows jumped to second place after their impressive victory over SuperSport. They are also on 10 points after five games with three wins.

Arrow’s co-coach, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, has praised his players for their performance and good start to the new campaign.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy one. Playing against SuperSport United is always difficult,” said Vilakazi.

“But I think our planning was spot on for the fact that we didn’t even concede a goal, and also, we were playing against a side that is very strong in aerial duels. But the boys adapted very well and stuck to the plan.”
