Mduduzi Mdantsane has outlined his aspirations at Kaizer Chiefs, saying that he did not return to the club to add numbers.

The midfielder joined Chiefs ahead of the start of the 2023/24 season after parting ways with Cape Town City.

Mdantsane has featured in four of Chiefs’ five games in all competitions so far this season, with an assist to his name.

He is one of the eight new top players tipped to awaken the sleeping giants and end the eight-year trophy drought at Amakhosi.

Others include Tebogo Potsane, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Edson Castillo, Pule Mmodi and Ranga Chivaviro, Given Msimango and Efmamjjasond González Palacios.

The ex-Baroka FC star is pleased to be back at Naturena. “The only thing I can say is it’s good to be back, and I am here to win (trophies) and help the team,” he said.

“I’m not here just to add numbers. I think that’s the most important thing. Yes, we haven’t started well, but we are taking it one game at a time. “And obviously, we are going onto the pitch to win and try and fight for us to get a win and trophies.”

The Soweto giants have only won two of their five matches since the start of the new season – the MT8 quarter-final against CT City and the DStv Premiership clash versus AmaZulu FC.

Mdantsane is well aware of the pressure of playing for Kaizer Chiefs and insists that he is up for the task “I know there’s too much pressure.

As a player, you need to be strong and motivated somehow. Take all those things and let them sink in so that you can do better,” he declared.

“That’s why we as a team – and I, personally – have been trying (to win games) and do better. We are fighting to do better in every game and win matches.”
