Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki is confident that the good combination of newcomers Pule Mmodi and Tebogo Potsane will speed up the duo’s adjustment to life at Naturena.

The duo of Mmodi and Potsane helped Chiefs register their first win of the season in the DStv Premiership at FNB Stadium on Saturday as the Soweto giants beat AmaZulu 3-0.

Mmodi scored a brace, while Potsane turned provider with the duo combing well with Ashley Du Preez. Another new signing, Edson Castillo, was also on target as he scored the third goal.

Chiefs were playing in front of their home fans at the Calabash for the first time this season, and they did not disappoint.

Molefi Ntseki spoke after the game and had nothing but praise for the players, describing them as ‘quality’ players.

‘CHIEFS IS A DIFFERENT BEAST’ – NTSEKI

“We brought in Pule Mmodi with a very clear understanding that he’s a quality player, but we always say this when it comes to players coming from other teams, ‘Kaizer Chiefs is a different beast’,” said Ntseki.

“The two goals he scored will help him settle. Again, Potsane assisted him [Mmodi] on both goals. “This will settle our front three [including Ashley Du Preez, who has been their main source of goals lately] in terms of the contributions that they have to make,” added the Chiefs coach.

And despite AmaZulu dominating the game in terms of possession and goal-scoring opportunities, Ntseki insisted that Chiefs deserved to win.

“I think a deserved win for the club, a deserved win for the players, a deserved win for the supporters,” he declared.

“AmaZulu played the game, we scored the goals,” Ntseki said. “It [scoring] was very important for us because we’ve had good performances but not scoring goals.”

The victory result will see Chiefs head off to the Western Cape on Wednesday to face Stellenbosch FC with the confidence of adding another three points in the bag.
