Kaizer Chiefs defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is confident that the club will bounce back from the poor start to the new season, insisting that it is ‘too early to judge’ the Soweto giants.
Dithlokwe, who joined Chiefs from SuperSport United ahead of the 2023/24 season, says the rough patch shouldn’t define Chiefs. The Botswana captain walked straight into the starting line-up at Amakhosi, forming a partnership with Given Msimango at centre-back.
Ditlhokwe has featured in all Chiefs first four games of the season as the team struggles to find their rhythm and cohesion on the pitch. They are yet to register a win in the DStv Premiership.
“I think there’s no need for us to judge ourselves whether we are good or bad players. Where we were coming from, we were obviously excelling,” said Ditlhokwe at Naturena.
“So why should we judge ourselves now? Even where we come from, we once faced the situation that we are facing now.
“It’s about digging deep and being focused, and then the results will come. Football is a collective sport.

THATAYAONE DITLHOKWE BACKS CHIEFS TO CHALLENGE FOR TROPHIES
“We must all work together as a unit. It is not the time for pointing fingers. If we win, we win together, and if we lose, we lose together,” he added.
The defender also believes that Chiefs will gel as the season progresses and challenge for trophies. Chiefs, once dubbed as ‘Cup Kings of South African football’ last won a trophy in the 2014/15 season.
They are in the MTN8 semi-finals, where they will face Mamelodi Sundowns over two legs. “We believe we still have a good chance to fight for anything that’s there,” added Dithlokwe.
Kaizer Chiefs, in search of their first win in the league, will host AmaZulu FC at FNB Stadium on Saturday (17:00).
