Kaizer Chiefs have received an Ashley Du Preez boost after the speedy forward recovered from a bout of the flu.

Ashley Du Preez has since returned to training with KaizerChiefs after missing his club’s last DStv Premiership match against TS Galaxy.

However, the 26-year-old forward has fully recovered and is back in contention for selection for Chiefs’ next match, against AmaZulu on Saturday.

Chiefs desperately need to win and bounce back to convince their fans that the squad rebuild is progressing well.

Du Preez’s return is a major boost for Chiefs, who are currently struggling for form in the PSL. They have only collected one point in the league from a goalless draw against Chippa United. They then lost to Mamelodi Sundowns [2-1] and TS Galaxy [1-0].

The striker has had a good start, scoring two goals in two appearances so far. His goals came in the Sundowns tie and in the MTN8 Cup where they beat Cape Town City 2-1.

His return will give Chiefs a much-needed boost in attack, as they look to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

In a statement, Chiefs said: “Ashley Du Preez has fully recovered from the flu and has returned to training with the team. He is available for selection for our next match against AmaZulu FC.”
