Gueldich, a PhD holder in Exercise Science, was the man responsible for Yanga players’ incredible fitness levels as they reached the CAF Confederation Cup final last season, where they lost to USM Alger.

In addition, the Tunisian coach Helmy Gueldich was part of the Yanga technical team that led the club to back-to-back domestic trebles with Nasreddine Nabi at the helm.

“The club is looking for improvement in every area and in areas that you know and areas that you don’t know,” said Riveiro. “So that’s normal [the appointment of new conditioning coach].

“We are part of a club that is looking to permanently develop. We all know the reason why we are there: it’s to help the players become better, help the team be better and make sure the history of the club improves season after season.
