SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has shared his thoughts on the club’s latest arrival Terrence Dzvukamanja ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season.

The news came out on Friday. “SuperSport United FC is pleased to confirm the signature of Zimbabwean International Terrence Dzvukamanja for an undisclosed transfer fee,” the club said in a statement.

Dzvukamanja penned a deal with SuperSport following his controversial departure from Orlando Pirates most recently.

A few days ago, Pirates stated that Dzvukamanja asked the club to release him from his contract, which reportedly still had a year remaining.

The player claimed he wants to “play in Zimbabwe to be close to home to address pressing family matters.

“The club was therefore surprised by an approach from SuperSport United for the player’s services since the club had made plans to include the player in their CAF Champions League squad,” added Pirates.

The Zimbabwean international scored the winner as Pirates won the Nedbank Cup last season. He endured a difficult start to the 2022/23 season, becoming an enemy to Bucs’ faithful who booed Dzvukamanja.

Dzvukamanja has since reunited with the man who introduced him to the PSL back in 2018, Hunt. The latter had signed the attacker at Bidvest Wits from Zimbabwe’s top-flight side Ngezi Platinum in July 2018. The player moved to Pirates in September 2020 after Wits was sold.

”I know him very well as I have signed him before,” said Hunt. “He is a versatile top player and can play in multiple positions, which is what we need.

“We are happy to have him, he is a good goal scorer and can also play in areas that you need a player.”

In recent days, SuperSport also added a few top players in their ranks as they prepare for the new season, which includes the CAF Confederation Cup.

They have signed Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro on a loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns. Washington Arubi from Marumo Gallants and Tanzanian international defender Abdurazak Hamza.

In addition, the club welcomed former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Phathutshedzo and succeeded in retaining the services of Siphesihle Ndlovu and Grant Margeman on permanent deals from Orlando Pirates and Sundowns, respectively.
