Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper coach Jyri Nieminen has secured a move to Dutch giants Feyenoord ahead of the new season.

Nieminen penned a deal with the top-tier league Dutch outfit after parting ways with New York Red Bulls in the USA.

He had moved to the USA to coach in the Major League Soccer (MLS) in December 2022 following his departure from Pirates.

Feyenoord unveiled the 35-year-old goalkeeper coach on Thursday evening. In a statement, the club said: “Feyenoord has found a new goalkeeper coach for the first team in Jyri Nieminen,

“Finnish-born Nieminen makes the move from the United States where he worked as Head of Goalkeepers for the New York Red Bulls. “There were a large number of candidates for the position of goalkeeper coach, which had to be filled again due to the recent departure of Khalid Benlahsen.

“Nieminen, who worked as a goalkeeper coach in several parts of the world after his active football career, emerged as the most suitable. Nieminen started his coaching career with the Football Association of Finland and served several clubs from his homeland before making the move abroad.
