Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster has started pre-season training with Burnley ahead of his debut campaign in the Premier League.

The former Orlando Pirates forward is hard at work with his teammates as he prepares for the start of the Premier League with the Clarets.

Foster’s Burnley were promoted to the topflight of English football after winning the Championship last season.

LYLE FOSTER BACK IN PRE-SEASON TRAINING

And the Clarets’ eagerness to get the 2023/24 Premier League season going can be seen by their early return to training.

Vincent Kompany’s men are already hard at work at Gawthorpe in preparation for the club’s hotly-anticipated return to the big time.

That’s despite the 2023-24 Premier League campaign only getting underway on August 12, some two months from now.

Kompany’s Burnley, who were the outstanding team in the Championship last season, are looking to maintain that form in the Premier League.

The Clarets blew their competition out of the water as they amassed 101 points. They just three games the entire season.

Foster joined Burnley in January from KVC Westerlo in Belgium and scored one goal in 11 league appearances for the Loons.

The 22-year-old was recently omitted from Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for the CAF 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Morocco.

As a result, Foster can focus on pre-season with the Clarets as he gears up for his maiden EPL campaign.

FOSTER CATCHES VINCENT KOMPANY’S ATTENTION

Foster has represented clubs like Monaco, Vitoria Guimaraes, Cercle Brugge and Westerlo since moving abroad from Pirates.

He played his best football in the colours of Westerlo in Belgium. Foster bagged 13 goals and provided nine assists in 47 matches.

That form saw him catch the attention of Burnley coach Kompany. The former Manchester City legend had kept an eye on Belgian football after leaving Anderlecht for the Clarets.
