Golden Arrows co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has spoken out on the future of wantaway Bafana Bafana star Pule Mmodi.
Mmodi is a target of AmaZulu FC, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, with his contract set to end in June.
Vusumuzi Vilakazi has stressed the importance of Pule Mmodi in the Durban side’s dressing room.
“Pule, I like Pule, and I would like Pule to stay at the club at any time because he is working very hard for us.
“He has been showing that. Even now, there is speculation, but he is still working hard. He is a player whenever you are thinking about people who want to fight for you, he always raises his hand to say, ‘I’m available.’”
Mmodi was close to switching to Naturena in the August transfer window. However, the transfer fee was the stumbling block.
A source close to Mmodi’s camp said the player had made it clear he didn’t want to stay.
The Bafana winger is 30 years old and would likely be looking for that last big contract.
“So we will see what happens,” added the former Arrows Diski coach.
“If we have Pule, we will have Pule next season, and I will be happy about that.”
The former Uthongathi FC midfielder’s contract expires in June, so he is free to talk to any club.
He would be joining them on a free basis should he choose not to sign a new contract with Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Meanwhile, Golden Arrows ended outside of the top eight. “We wanted to go to the top eight, but unfortunately, we couldn’t,” Vusumuzi Vilakazi told Radio 2000 on Tuesday night.
“Maybe Coach Mabhuti and I still have a lot of work to do. This was our first full season in charge, so we have a lot to learn. At Arrows, we play a certain way. Remember that.”
