Andile Jali’s departure from Mamelodi Sundowns seems increasingly imminent, and his agent, Mike Makaab, has provided an update on his next move.
Jali has been on the sidelines at Sundowns since February after he allegedly arrived in training drunk, forcing Rulani Mokwena to make a tough decision.
Jali wasn’t the only player who found himself in hot water around the same time, with teammate Sipho Mbule also getting on the club’s bad books.
Maakab on Jali’s future
While the former SuperSport United midfield ace was given a lifeline, Jali, on the other hand, wasn’t as lucky, and it appears his time at the club is all but over.

Sundowns look set to part with the former Orlando Pirates midfielder, whose contract will most likely not be renewed when it expires at the end of the season.
Makaab, who was giving another update on his client’s situation onGagasi FM, confirmed that it was unlikely for Jali to play again for Sundowns.
“Nothing is impossible in football, but I don’t think it’s highly likely,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.
“I think it’s clear that the team doesn’t see him in their plans going forward, and we have to respect that. If that is the case, then AJ himself he’s a mature player and needs to be in an environment where he is being given an opportunity to play.
Clubs interested in Jali
“And again, I’m not blaming Mamelodi Sundowns. Look at what Sundowns are doing. They are doing remarkably well. It’s just how these things sometimes end up in football.
“AJ needs to be at a football club where he is wanted and where he wants to be. Because I think if you have a good environment on both player-side and the club’s side, the chances of success are much higher.”
Makaab also revealed that some clubs have already started showing interest in Jali’s services, adding that the players still has a lot to offer.
FARPost has previously reported that one of the clubs interested in the 33-year-old was Stellenbosch FC, but Makaab remains tight-lipped.
“We all know what AJ is capable of doing. If a football club is interested in his services, we’re open to listening,” added Makaab.
“We’ve had a number of clubs contact us, and I’m not at liberty to divulge those names just yet. But I’m hoping that sooner than later, we’ll be able to give you a heads up as to where discussions are going.”
