Marumo Gallants will look to capitalise on home advantage when they host Pyramids at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday. Kick-off is 18h00.

Marumo got the all-important away goal in Egypt, thanks to a Ranga Chivaviro header.

They were unlucky to concede a late goal from the penalty spot. Ramadani Sobhi converted from the spot to throw the Egyptians a lifeline ahead of the reverse fixture.

The Limpopo side had performed satisfactorily in Cairo, and they would be eager to continue from where they left off as they seek a semi-final place.

Gallants look poised to make history in Africa on the back of a challenging season.

It’s been a two-pronged fight as they are battling to keep their DStv Premiership status.

Marumo Gallants celebrating.

At some point, they sat at the basement of the PSL table, but they are now three points ahead of Maritzburg United.

Interestingly, their next league fixture is against the Pietermaritzburg outfit, who are fighting for their lives.

Fadlu Davids’ Maritzburg can’t afford to lose that game with relegation staring them in the face.

But for now, Bahlabane ba ntwa’s focus is on Confederation Cup, where they have defied the odds.

Marumo Gallants coach Raymond Mdaka is upbeat that they will finish the job after disappointment in the away leg.

“We wanted a win so that when we come back at home, we could have an easy game and go to the semi-finals, but we managed to get a draw, which I think was a game we should’ve won,” Mdaka said.

“We expect to put more against them on Sunday so that we can be able to reach the semi-finals.”

Pyramids have former Cape Town City striker Fagray Lakay in their ranks. Although he has not played regularly, he could prove to be an important player for them in the tie.

Once again, Mdaka will look to Chivaviro for goals. The 30-year-old has scored five goals in the competition.
