The Mduduzi Mdantsane to Kaizer Chiefs story took another twist this week, with Cape Town City chairman John Comitis insisting he has not sold any of his players.
WHAT JOHN COMITIS SAID
The veteran administrator zoomed into the future of Mdantsane and Khanyisa Mayo, who has been the subject of speculation.
“At the moment, nothing is happening,” Comitis told Isolezwe, claiming he was waiting for the end of the season.
He said they would only make decisions about players at the end of the current term. Comitis told the vernacular publication that they wanted to give “players a chance to prove themselves on the field in the five games left before the end of the season”.
However, he is aware that a number of his player, including Mdantsane and Mayo, have been linked to DStv Premiership clubs. Mayo is reportedly a target of Mamelodi Sundowns.
“There’s been a lot said regarding our players, but we will not discuss this until somebody approaches us directly and makes an offer,” he said, adding that no club had contacted them about any player. “It’s all just rumours.”
City exercised the one-year option in Mdantsane’s contract, which would have seen him stay at the club for another season.
WHAT SN24 KNOWS ABOUT MDUDUZI MDANTSANE TO KAIZER CHIEFS
SN24 has previously reported that Mdantsane penned a three-year deal to join Chiefs and will move to Naturena at the end of the season.
Mdantsane came close to signing for Chiefs in January, but the move collapsed on the eleventh hour, which saw him extend his stay at City.
City coach Eric Tinkler publicly confirmed the interest from Chiefs in Mdantsane. The Mother City outfit triggered the one-year option to keep him at the club until the end of next season after the failed Chiefs move.
However, SN24 spotted Mdantsane with Kaizer Motaung Jnr on the 21st of March, 2023, at the OR Tambo International Airport. Mdantsane, Motaung Jnr and two other gentlemen met at Mugg n Bean, thought to be his representative and a club representative.

On the same day, SN24 reported that personal terms between the player and Chiefs had been agreed upon.
The two clubs already agreed to see Mdantsane switch to Naturena in July.
Interestingly, Comitis has previously admitted that there were conversations about Kaizer Chiefs with Mdantsane. He said Amakhosi had the opportunity to snap him up but never took it.
