The Kaizer Chiefs duo of Zitha Kwinika and Christian Saile Basomboli have warned their teammates of the threat posed by Marumo Gallants.

Chiefs welcome Gallants at the FNB Stadium on Saturday [20h00] in a DStv Premiership clash. Chiefs are searching for their fifth successive league win, which would be six in all competitions.

They go into the clash buoyed by the 2-1 home win against Stellenbosch in their last league game.

LANGUISHING IN 16TH PLACE

This time, they face a Gallants side languishing in 16th place on the standings and desperate to climb up the table to avoid the drop.

The Limpopo side would be confident going into the tie after beating Royal AM 3-1 in Bloemfontein on Wednesday night.

Zitha Kwinika is not taking the clash lightly “seeing that they got the result against Royal AM”.

“They are showing they are fighting for their lives and for us, it is a matter of us being on our game and not taking it lightly,” Kwinika told the Chiefs website.

ZITHA KWINIKA AND CHRISTIAN SAILE WARNING

He warns his teammates that “the log is not a true reflection of a team’s performance.”

But he draws confidence from the fact that Chiefs are on a good run.

“We are in the process of finding consistency in winning, which was missing before, and the more consistent we get at winning, the better it will be for the team,” he said.

A win will see Chiefs win a third consecutive home league game, a feat the club last achieved in the 2019-20 season.

Amakhosi forward Christian Saile Basomboli says there is no stopping them from extending their winning streak.

“We have won the last four league games, and there is no stopping there for us. They won 3-1 in their last game. But we’ll train with the right intensity and be ready for Saturday,” Saile said.

Chiefs presently are on a five-game winning run in all competitions. A victory against Gallants will help Amakhosi’s cause as they look to keep pace with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United.

ALl three teams are on 40 points as they challenge for a spot in next year’s CAF Champions League.
