DStv Premiership side AmaZulu on Tuesday announced that head coach Romain Folz had been reassigned, with a club source revealing “he’s gone”.

AmaZulu president, Sandile Zungu, said assistant coach Ayanda Dlamini had been appointed interim head coach while Romain Folz had been assigned the position of technical director.

According to a statement, the changes are in line with the club’s Vision 2032 and will remain in effect until the end of the season.

THE GAME IS RESULTS-DRIVEN

“The game is results-driven, and with six matches to go occupying 12th position, it is clear the performance is not fitting of a club like AmaZulu Football Club.

“The decision we have taken is to appoint Ayanda Dlamini as caretaker Coach until the end of the season. His mandate is to fight for the remaining 18 points that are on offer,” read a club statement.

Usuthu, who are just four points from the relegation playoff spot occupied by Maritzburg United, visit Cape Town City at the weekend.

Dlamini will be in that game.

“Dlamini has the huge task of preparing the team for the upcoming match against Cape Town City this weekend.

“With Folz, there are many aspects that we want to continue with from him. I have retained him as a technical director, primarily to advise the President on the technical aspects of Vision 2032 until the end of the season.”

“He will be expected not to interfere with the day-to-day running of the team. We thank him for his contribution to the team,” said Zungu.

The AmaZulu boss reiterated that they were still keen on working with ‘Fohloza’ on many aspects.

FOLZ ON HIS WAY OUT

The 32-year-old signed a three-year deal in February, which kicks in at the end of the season. However, a source within the club said he was on his way out.

“He’s definitely on his way out; there is no way he will be given the senior team again. Players complained about him; there’s no chemistry at all,” the source said.

‘Fohloza’ has overseen 19 games at AmaZulu in which he won four, drew nine and lost six in all competitions. He joined Usuthu in October after he parted ways with Marumo Gallants.
