DStv Premiership outfit Sekhukhune United are mulling offloading a Zambian international ahead of next season.
Babina Noko went on a spending spree during the preseason, also bolstering their squad in January.
This was after a massive clean-up that saw 16 players leave the DStv Premiership club at the end of last season.
The club’s management also rung some changes in the technical team, with Kaitano Tembo being replaced by Brandon Truter.
Tembo had joined the club at the start of the season, only lasting until the FIFA World Cup break in December 2022.
TOASTER NSABATA PLAYING SECOND FIDDLE
Sekhukhune United’s many changes have rendered a Zambia international at the club surplus to requirements.
Toaster Nsabata, the Chipolopolo goalkeeper, has played second fiddle to Badra Ali Sangaré this season. The 33-year-old has been limited to just nine appearances in the DStv Premiership this season.
Last season, he played 25 and managed to keep 11 clean sheets after conceding 20 goals.
This season, he has kept two clean sheets and let in 10 goals.
Despite his lack of game time at the club, former Chelsea manager Avram Grant gave him the nod for Chipolopolo.
In a Group H qualifier against Lesotho at home in Ndola, Nsabata’s 31st-minute howler handed Likuena a one-nil lead when he fumbled to keep out Tshwarelo Bereng’s effort.
Luckily, Zambia made a sensational comeback and won the match 3-1. “He played the last two games [for his club], and he was good. Sometimes at the national team, you play players that don’t please every week,” Grant said.
HE MADE A MISTAKE
“He was fantastic in training. He made a mistake. It happens. I hope it will not happen again, but this is part of life’s mistakes,” the Chipolopolo coach, Grant, said.
SN24 has it on good authority that he has fallen out of favour with the club. Although he will have a year left on his contract at the end of the season, Sekhukhune United are looking to ship him out.
“Management is not happy with his performances. They want to get rid of him at the end of the season, but he still has over a year left on his contract,” the club source said.
