Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has openly expressed his desire to sign Polokwane City FC star Oswin Appollis.
The highly sought-after attacker, has been making waves in South African football scenes in the colours of ‘Rise and Shine.
His impressive performances last season with Polokwane City, where he scored seven goals and provided five assists in 31 appearances, have attracted significant attention.
In addition Appollis’consistent displays earned him a regular spot in coach Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana squad, culminating in a bronze medal finish at the 2023 AFCON.
More recently, Appollis showcased his attacking prowess during the FIFA international break, scoring a brace against South Sudan in the 2024 AFCON qualifiers.
Having proven to be one of exciting attackers, Appollis is on the radar of several big teams in the continent which Kaizer Chiefs, Esperance, and, MC Alger.
Chiefs’ sporting director Kaizer Jr recently revealed that they are still eager to bring Appollis to Naturena before the transfer window closes.
MANQOBA MNGQITHI EAGER TO SIGN OSWIN APPOLLIS
With the transfer window closing on the 20th of September 2024, Mngqithi has admitted that his charges would like to sign Appollis.
The 23-year-old was a notable absentee when Polokwane City beat AmaZulu FC in the first match of the league this past weekend.

“I would love to get any top player to be honest and Appollis is one of the players I like but I think many coaches would say the same thing,”Mngqithi said.
“You don’t always get what you want in life because we already have around 40 players but it will be important to get a player like that.
“If an opportunity avails itself [we will sign him] but I don’t think it will avail itself because Esperance was interested in him and they could not get hold of him. So I wouldn’t want to talk about something that is immaterial for me.”
