Hapoel Be’er Sheva FC has withdrawn its interest in acquiring South African youth international Rushwin Dortley from Cape Town Spurs. The Israeli club’s decision came swiftly upon learning of the player’s valuation, which seemingly exceeded their expectations.
While Rushwin Dortley’s market value is listed as R7.9 million on Transfermarkt, the actual price demanded by Cape Town Spurs remains undisclosed. However, it is believed that the asking price, coupled with a sell-on clause, was enough to deter Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
A South African intermediary had initially presented Dortley as a potential signing for the Israeli club. Yet, upon discovering the financial terms involved, the club promptly opted out of the deal.
Dortley, who has captained both the South African Under 23 national team and the senior Bafana Bafana squad, recently showcased his talent in the COSAFA Cup. His impressive performance, including a goal and a Man of the Match award, further solidified his reputation as a promising talent.

Despite Be’er Sheva’s withdrawal, Cape Town Spurs remains firm on Dortley’s transfer, insisting on a substantial offer that reflects his true worth. Other clubs, such as Stellenbosch United and SuperSport United, have also expressed interest in the versatile defender, who excels as both a left centre-back and a left-back.
As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether any club will meet Spurs’ demands for Dortley. However, given his rising prominence and undeniable talent, it is likely that the young defender will continue to attract attention from clubs both domestically and abroad.
