Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has declared that coach Pitso Mosimane is the ideal candidate to revive Amakhosi, but with a critical caveat.

Chiefs are looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Molefi Ntseki back in October. Amakhosi is searching for someone to steer them back to calmer waters with Cavin Johnson, who is currently in charge on an interim basis.

One name that keeps popping up is Mosimane. The legendary coach is a free agent following his departure with UAE Pro League side Al Wahda FC last month.

Mosimane’s arrival at Naturena would be a major coup for Chiefs, and the CAF Champions-winning tactician stated in several interviews that he would love to coach the Soweto giants.

In an interview on 94.7 FM with Robert Marawa, club legend Khumalo backed Mosimane to take over at Chiefs but raised major concerns.

The former Chiefs star believes the conditions at the club could be more conducive for Mosimane to succeed.

KHUMALO BACKS MOSIMANE BUT RAISES MAJOR CONCERN

“If Pitso (Mosimane) has to do that (coach Chiefs), he is a great coach and has proven himself,” said Doctor Khumalo.

“I would like to believe he can be the best coach at Kaizer Chiefs, but I have reservations about that because of certain things happening within the club that are not supposed to, especially player acquisition.”

Khumalo, who was a mainstay at Chiefs during his playing days, winning trophies, added: “I will always be a Kaizer Chiefs fan and a legend, but unfortunately, there’s no room for us to echo advice at the club, and I cannot force that to happen, so I will instead watch from a distance. I don’t want to burn my fingers.

“So I can say much, but this is not the right platform because I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes. I would love to intervene, but the platform is unavailable for that to happen.”
