Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United are angling to get some respite in the DStv Premiership after a lowly weekend in CAF interclub competitions.

Mamelodi Sundowns dropped points for the second time in a row in the CAF Champions League after being held to a 0-0 draw by Pyramids on Sunday.

Before the Pyramids match, they had lost 1-0 to DR Congo’s TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi.

On the other hand, Sekhukhune United drew 0-0 with Stade Malien at home in a exciting CAF Confederations match.

They were hoping to win again after beating Diables Noirs 2-1 in the previous match.

The two clubs, however have an oppurtunity to get some respite in the DStv Premiership where they play on Wednesday evening.

SUNDOWNS AIM TO KEEP THEIR SPOTLESS IN THE LEAGUE

Serial champions Mamelodi Sundowns, are set to host strugglers Cape Town Spurs with high hopes of extending their unbeaten run. They have been so perfect having won the ten matches they played so far.

Spurs are yet to pick a point in their last four matches, which they lost. In another match, Sekhukhune United face a gruelling trip to Durban where they will face AmaZulu FC.

This promises to be an exciting match, as the two sides are separated by two points. Babina Noko sit on 17 points while AmaZulu FC are 14th on the log table with 15 points.

Sekhukhune United will hope to keep their momentum in the league. They beat Chippa United 2-0 in their last league match played on 6 December.

Although, they appear to have struck the right chords under Lehlohonolo Seema, they remain in the undesired bottom half of the log table with 17 points on their tally.
