Jomo Cosmos players have reportedly gone months without receiving their salaries, leaving them in a precarious financial situation.
The club’s financial struggles have been well-documented in recent years, and the latest reports suggest that the situation has only worsened.
According to a source close to the club, players have not been paid since August 2023. This means they have gone without their primary source of income for over three months.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, said players are “extremely frustrated” with the situation. They are worried about how they will pay their bills and support their families.
“We are all professionals, and we expect to be paid for our work,” the source said. “It is not fair that we are being treated this way.”
The club’s management has yet to comment on the reports. However, it is understood that they are aware of the situation and are working to resolve it.

At the start of October, the Jobe Foundation announced they were giving Ezenkosi a shot in the arm. However, the Foundation did not disclose the nature of the sponsorship.

Cosmos is one of South African football’s oldest and most successful clubs. They have won cup titles before plunging to the lower echelons of South African football.

Jomo Sono, the club’s founder, has also produced some of the best footballers ever to grace South African football fields. Benjani Mwaruwari, who ended up at Manchester City, Chris Katongo, Tico Tico Bucuane, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Pitso Mosimane all had stints with the club.
In recent seasons, they have been relegated from the Premier Soccer League on two occasions, and they are currently playing in the ABC Motsepe League.
The club’s failure to pay its players’ salaries is a severe breach of contract. It is also a violation of FIFA’s regulations. FIFA has strict rules regarding paying players’ wages, and clubs that fail to comply can face sanctions.
