Chippa United are reportedly chasing the signature of Botswana international Benson Kitso Mangolo, but the fullback is said to be reluctant to commit to the South African outfit.

The 26-year-old plays for Jwaneng Galaxy and has been a key figure for the Zebras in recent years, impressing with his pace, skill, and versatility.

During the pre-season, the Chilli Boys assessed him and are reportedly eager to see the Botswanan weave his magic in the DStv Premiership.

However, according to sources close to the player, Mangolo has second thoughts about the switch. While acknowledging Chippa’s interest and the appeal of playing in South Africa, concerns have been raised regarding certain aspects of the proposed deal.

Whispers suggest that the offered salary needs to meet Mangolo’s expectations. Additionally, anxieties exist over Chippa’s recent struggles, both on and off the field. The club narrowly avoided relegation last season, and questions about stability and long-term prospects have been raised.

WHY BENSON KITSO MANGOLO IS HESITANT OVER CHIPPA UNITED MOVE

Mangolo, understandably, wants to ensure any move is the right one for his career progression. He is believed to be weighing his options carefully, considering financial security and the opportunity to challenge himself and contribute to a team with a clear vision for success.

Chippa United, meanwhile, remain hopeful of luring the talented left-back. They view him as a marquee signing who could elevate their squad and attract further investment. The Chilli Boys are reportedly prepared to improve their initial offer and address some of Mangolo’s reservations.

With 24-year-old left-back Azola Ntsabo reportedly refusing to sign a new deal, they could be left with no choice but to sign Mangolo.

Should they convince him to join them, the pint-sized fullback will bring international experience. He was in devastating form when Galaxy dumped Orlando Pirates out of the CAF Champions League.

Mangolo starred as the Botswana champions edged Wydad Casablanca 1-0 in their own fortress.
