Kaizer Motaung has hailed Jessica’s new CAF role as a beacon of hope for women in African sports leadership.

In a groundbreaking appointment, Jessica Motaung was elected the first female deputy chairperson of the African Clubs Association (ACA).

According to Motaung Snr, this move has not only shattered glass ceilings. But it also ignited a wave of inspiration for aspiring female leaders across the continent.

Jessica, who serves as marketing director at Kaizer Chiefs, was elected during the launch of the CAF-affiliated body in Egypt on Thursday.

Her appointment as deputy chairperson of the ACA is also a sign of Jessica’s growing stature as one of the most respected and influential football administrators on the continent.

It is worth noting that Jessica was appointed to serve on the CAF organising committee on women’s football in 2022. In addition, she is a member of the PSL Board of Governors.

“Jessica’s election as deputy chairperson of ACA not only highlights her capabilities and vision. But also serves as an inspiration to aspiring female leaders within the sport locally and on the continent,” added Dr Motaung.

ACA was formed by CAF with president Patrice Motsepe at the forefront. CAF boss Motsepe felt it was necessary for African clubs to have a structure where they could have a voice. Young Africans president Hersi Said was announced as the first chairperson of the ACA. Nigeria’s Paul Bassey from Akwa United is the second deputy chairperson.
