With indications that Sifiso Hlanti’s exit from Kaizer Chiefs is imminent, two DStv Premiership clubs are eyeing him.

The future of the 33-year-old left back at Chiefs hanging in the balance.

SN24 sources have told this publication that two clubs in the PSL have made informal inquiries about the availability of Hlanti.

Hlanti will see his contract with Chiefs come to an end on June 30 next year. It is increasingly looking unlikely that the Soweto giants will extend the player’s stay.

Chiefs are in the search for a younger left back and will keep Edmilson Dove. It means Hlanti’s contract is unlikely to be extended.

Now, according to a reliable source close to the player, two clubs have made informal inquiries into the player availability.

WHICH CLUBS ARE CONSIDERING SIFISO HLANTI

AmaZulu and SuperSport United, who are all showing keen interest in Hlanti, have looked into availability for the next season.

The source indicated that his former coach at Bidvest Wits, Gavin Hunt, wants to reunite with him at SuperSport.

In addition, another source stated that AmaZulu could be preparing for the eventuality that Rian Hanamub might leave the team.

Hanamub has been on the radar of Orlando Pirates for quite a while.

“They’re not sure whether Rian Hanamub will still be with them come the start of the 2024/25 season as there is huge interest in him so they see Hlanti as the one who can fill the gap,” said the source.

Hlanti joined Amakhosi in 2021 but will soon look to begin a new chapter of his professional career in the coming months.

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt is believed to have recommended Hlanti to the Chiefs management while he was still in charge of the Phefeni Glamour Boys.

But at the time, Chiefs had a transfer ban. Hunt had worked with the defender during their time at Bidvest Wits.

The KwaZulu-Natal born player subsequently joined Moroka Swallows before finally making his way to the Naturena-based outfit ahead of the 2021/22 season. Unfortunately, Hunt was already relieved of his duties.

It now remains to be seen if Kaizer Chiefs will opt to keep him on their books. An announcement on the future of the player is expected to be made in the near future.

He has played in most PSL matches in the 2018/19 campaign for Bidvest Wits, making 29 appearances across 30 fixtures.

The former Bafana Bafana star also played for Golden Arrows and Thanda Royal Zulu, among other clubs in his professional career.
