Molefi Ntseki is relishing another chance to end Kaizer Chiefs’ eight-year trophy drought in the Carling Knockout Cup where they face AmaZulu FC in the last 16 of the tournament.

Kaizer Chiefs have been blowing hot and cold in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership  campaign.

They even missed out on the lucrative MTN8 title which was won by arch-rivals, Orlando Pirates for the second consecutive time.

Although, it appears Ntseki is building a mean machine, they are yet to enjoy the results.

And Ntseki acknowledges that their next meeting with Usuthu will be decisive in shaping their hopes of exorcising their demons.

This will be their second meeting with the Durban based side, albeit in different competitions.

EVERY GAME IS A CUP SAYS MOLEFI NTSEKI

Amakhosi won 3-0 in their latest meeting back in August and hopes are high that they will win again.

“What I have always been saying is that every game we play is a cup game. So we have not been winning Cup games and I think now it’s the time for us to turn the corner,” Ntseki said.

“We fully understand that it comes with hard work, it comes with proper preparation going into this match.

“At the same time you give respect to your opponent. At the same time, there is only one team that has to win on Saturday.”

Unlike in previous years, this term’s Carling Knockout Cup will have all the 16 teams in the elite league.

Last time out, it featured four teams AmaZulu, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

And the Tshwane giants, Mamelodi Sundowns won the title after beating Orlando Pirates 4-0 in the final.
