Kaizer Chiefs have once issued a letter of apology to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for the shameful behaviour of their supporters at recent matches.
The club has also condemned the violent actions of its supporters and pledged to take action to address the problem.
The Soweto giants’ apology comes after they were slapped with a R200,000 fine. However R50,000 is suspended over a period of six months provided that Amakhosi are not found guilty of the same offence.
Chiefs’ fans acted in an unappropriate manner following the 1-0 loss to SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium most recently in a DStv Premiership clash.
They threw objects at coach Molefi Ntseki. This was the second time Chiefs fans showed their frustration in a violent way as they also threw missiles at Ntseki after the defeat to TS Galaxy in the league at Mbombela Stadium earlier in the season.
That was not all as the Glamour Boys’ supporters also expressed their anger violently during the MTN8 semifinals loss to Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
The PSL has warned Chiefs that they could play a match behind closed doors if the same unsporting behaviour occurs in the next six months.

Chiefs’ letter to the PSL reads as follows: “Letter of apology for Kaizer Chiefs’ supporters’ behaviour at Kaizer Chiefs vs SuperSport United FC PSL fixture on 20 September 2023 & Kaizer Chiefs vs Mamelodi Sundowns FC MTN8 fixture on 23 September 2023.

“Kaizer Chiefs hereby unreservedly apologises to the Premier Soccer League, all PSL member clubs, SuperSport United FC, Mamelodi Sundowns FC and all of its peace-loving supporters, for the behaviour of some of its supporters at the Club’s PSL fixture against SuperSport United FC at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on 20 September 2023 and against Mamelodi Sundowns FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium on 23 September 2023.
“The Club condemns this poor and unacceptable behaviour in the strongest possible terms. “We have already commenced a process of engaging with Kaizer Chiefs’ branches on supporter behaviour at football matches.”
