Burnley FC head coach Vincent Kompany believes South African talisman Lyle Foster is showing all the signs of becoming a good striker in the Premier League.

Kompany’s sentiments come after Foster made a return to Burnley’s starting lineup after serving his three-match suspension and marked the occasion with a goal.

Lyle Foster scored on the stroke of half-time to give the lead in a Premier League clash against Luton Town on Tuesday night at Kenilworth Road. Luton Town equalised before substitute Jacob Bruun Larsen scored the winner for Burnley FC with a good strike from outside the box.

Premier League legend and former Manchester City captain Kompany praised Foster’s impact and stated that he was pleased to see the Bafana Bafana attacker back on his team.

“It was a shame for him to be ruled out the last three games after starting strong, but he showed signs of being in a place where he belongs,” said Kompany.

FOSTER A KEY PLAYER FOR BURNLEY, SAYS KOMPANY

“Lyle has had a massive impact on the team this season. Anytime he plays, he looks a threat and I’m sure he will look back at this game and think he is on the way to hopefully being a good striker in this league.

The 23-year-old Foster has now scored three goals in the Premier League in five games, proving his mettle. “As a manager you give credit to the players when they do well, and you take responsibility when they don’t, and that’s the nature of the job,” added Kompany, who was also happy to see his troops pick up their first three points of the 2023/24 season.

Meanwhile, Foster, who put in a Man of the Match display also shared his views on Burnley FC’s performance on the night. “It was a very tough game. A good first half from us and then Luton came out and put us under pressure,” said the ex-Orlando Pirates striker. “They got the goal that they wanted but I am just happy we got the win in the end.”
