While Kaizer Chiefs failed to maintain their winning momentum, coach Pablo Franco Martin appears to have finally helped AmaZulu turn a corner following a slow start to the season.

While the other games were postponed, only six goals were scored in the four matches that were played over the weekend.

And it is AmaZulu and Richards Bay that managed to collect maximum points.

On Sunday, Pablo Franco Martin and his men put up a performance full of passion and enthusiasm to beat Cape Town City 3-2 at the Moses Mabhida stadium.

AmaZulu came into this one smarting from their first win this season, having beat TS Galaxy 1-0 courtesy of a goal by Augustine Chidi Kwem.

AMAZULU FINALLY HITS GOOD STRIDES

And they rightly surged ahead as early as the sixth minute through a goal scored by Mbongeni Gumede.

But the Eric Tinkler coached side responded 20 minutes later when Khanyisa Mayo equalized.

Tshegofatso Nyama then put the Mother City based side in front after 58 minutes and they tried hard to hold on.

Kaizer Chiefs played a goalless draw against Royal AM

But Sede Junior Dion dented their hopes of collecting maximum points with an eqaulizer in the referee’s optional.

The Ivorian, Dion, went on to score a last gasp goal, that all but sealed a famous win for AmaZulu. The win lifts Usuthu to fourth position with nine points on their tally after six matches.

Meanwhile on Saturday, Kaitano Tembo and his Richards Bay heaved a huge sigh of relief after finally getting their DStv Premiership win.

Justice Figuareido was the toast of the day after scoring the only goal they needed to beat Moroka Swallows 1-0 at Dobsonville Stadium.

They however remained fixated on 15th place despite the win that also disrupted the Dube Birds who were soaring high before the Fifa break.

Richards Bay now have five points on their tally after six rounds of fixtures.

KAIZER CHIEFS FAIL TO MAINTAIN WINNING FORMULA

In another match, Kaizer Chiefs could not maintain their winning run after being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Royal AM.

Before the international break, the Soweto giants beat AmaZulu FC and Stellenbosch, but Royal AM proved to be tougher than expected.

But, Chiefs have themselves to blame particularly, with how forwards Ashley Du Preez Jasond Gonzalez and Pule Mmodi missed good scoring chances.

Chiefs dropped to fifth on the Premiership standings with eight points after the share of spoils with Thwihli Thwahla.

Golden Arrows also failed to keep their winning formula after being held to a 0-0 draw by Stellenbosch on Saturday.

Arrows retained the same team that got the job done against SuperSport United, with Lungelo Nguse leading the offensive charge ahead ofRyan Moon.

And they rightly dominated in terms of possession but goals were elusive in this one.

Stellenbosch pressed high, making it challenging for Golden Arrows to create meaningful attacks.

They however found it difficult to provide clean balls to their frontmen, Iqraam Rayners, Andre de Jong, and Genino Palace who remained isolated.
