Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Geroge Matlou, who rarely makes the 18-man squad, believes that ‘the grass is always greener on the other side, but it takes patience to get there.’
After playing regularly for Moroka Swallows in the DStv Premiership two seasons ago, Matlou’s life at Chiefs has been more inconsistent so far.
At Swallows, he was one of the key players, featuring on 27 games in all competitions during the 202122. Matlou then joined Amakhosi, where he has been relegated to the bench.
The 25-year-old only featured in 12 league games in his first season at the club. And in the new season, Matlou has made three substitute appearances in Kaizer Chiefs’ seven games.
However, the midfielder remains optimistic that his time to call the shots in the middle of the part will come at some point.
MATLOU REMAINS POSITIVE DESPITE LACK OF GAME TIME AT CHIEFS
“I have been working hard at training, so I am just hoping for the best and waiting for my opportunity to come,” he said.
“The coach saw something in me. Even the few minutes that I have played, I think I have contributed well to the games we won, so it’s good.”
Whether he starts or comes off the bench, Matlou will be eager to use his exceptional skills to break down the Royal AM defence when the two teams meet on Saturday at FNB Stadium in a DStv Premiership clash.
Geroge Matlou said that Royal AM are, “a good team, so we can’t go in underestimating them, thinking they had a slow start to the season.

“They have been picking up recently. We are looking forward to the game, though. Our preparations have been going well and the players are sharp so we are looking for a positive result.
“Our ambition is to win more games and make our supporters happy, so we promise to give everything to win our games and lift a cup this season.”
