Mamelodi Sundowns new attacker Lesiba Nku has identified his speed as an asset for the club.
Lesiba Nku joined Sundowns at the start of the 2023/24 season from Marumo Gallants on a five-year deal.
The versatile player attracted interest from Sundowns after playing a key role in Gallants’ CAF Confederation Cup run last as they reached the semi-finals.
He made 31 appearances for Gallants, both in defence and attack, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
At his new home in Tshwane, Nku has impressed coach Rulani Mokwena with his ability as an attacker, The 27-year-old has netted two goals in four DStv Premiership games in Sundowns colours.
Nku, who faces a tough challenge to secure a starting spot in the star-studded Sundowns team has featured in six games in all competitions, missing only two in the new season.
He competes with the likes of Neo Maema, Caston Sirino, Junior Mendieta, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Thapelo Maseko, and Themba Zwane for a place in the starting lineup.
SUNDOWNS’ NKU RELIES ON SPEED TO MAKE IMPACT
In an interview with Mamelodi Sundowns Magazine, Nku said that he is bucking down hard to improve his game and play regularly at the Tshwane giants.
“My speed serves as an asset in outrunning defenders, and it is an area I’m determined to work hard on to ensure I use it to my full potential,” said Nku.

“I believe that my pace can generate scoring opportunities and will create an additional dynamic with the strikers.”
The midfielder went on to name his Sundowns teammate and Bafana Bafana international Khuliso Mudau as the toughest player he faced during his time at Gallants, who are now playing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. It has to be Khuliso Mudau.
He is an extremely physical and strong defender; in one-on-one situations, he’s firm and a nightmare for oppositions,” admitted Nku. “Playing against him last season was never easy as he always made it challenging for me to find spaces or create scoring opportunities.”
