Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom has said that his Bafana Bafana snub for the upcoming two friendly matches means he must work harder.
Hugo Broos excluded Broos in the 23-man squad set to face Namibia and DR Congo in international friendlies in September.
Bafana will play Namibia on Saturday, 9 September (15:00) before taking on DR Congo three days later, on Tuesday, 12 September (17:00).
Both games are scheduled to be staged at Orlando Stadium in Soweto. The matches will also be vital for Broos to prepare for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Blom had been included in the provisional squad but was not lucky enough to make the final team. Broos instead opted to go with SuperSport United star Grant Magerman.
Njabulo Blom has been putting in great performances for St. Louis City in the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA He has featured in 18 matches for the club since joining them from Chiefs in December 2022.
However, Broos feels that the player didn’t play enough matches in the last few weeks to warrant a selection. The 23-year-old admitted that he is disappointed but also sees the snub as an opportunity to improve his work game.
