Stellenbosch FC midfielder Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa has boldly stated that he is “up for any challenge” in the DStv Premiership amid his links to AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs.
Sibongiseni Mthethwa had an impressive 2022/23 season in Stellies colours, playing a crucial role in midfield as the club secured a top-six finish in the league.
The highly-rated defensive midfielder made 34 appearances in all competitions last campaign, putting in a good shift as he attracted interest from the PSL ‘big guns’.
He even earned a Bafana Bafana call-up for the 2023 COSAFA Cup, currently underway in KwaZulu-Natal.
Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu FC are reportedly eager to acquire the services of Mthethwa.
Addressing the media at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, the 28-year-old was relucted to comment on his immediate future. However, Sibongiseni Mthethwa did state that he is ready for a new challenge.

“I think they’ll always be links and conversations (during this time), but I’m not able to say whether I’ve been contacted because no one has come to see and said they want me,” he said.
“What I can say is that I’m open to playing in whichever part of the country if that’s where the next challenge comes from.

“I can’t say it has to be KZN just because it’s closer to home. As long as I’m able to work, that’s fine with me, it doesn’t have to be specifically in KZN, I just want to work and feed my family.”
In addition, Mthethwa said that it’s encouraging to get a call-up to the national team as it shows that he is making good progress in his career.
“This just says to me I’m doing something right, and people are looking at me and thinking I could aid their course, and I could also help the national team, which encourages me to keep working hard,” he declared.
